Dr. Rafiullah Khan

I am a researcher and academician with a focus on machine learning and privacy. I recently completed my Post-Doctoral Fellowship and Visiting Fellowship at the School of Computing, Macquarie University, NSW, Australia. I have now rejoined the Institute of Computer Science and Information Technology (ICS/IT) at The University of Agriculture, Peshawar, Pakistan, where I previously served as a Lecturer from 2011 to 2023.

I received my Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the Capital University of Science and Technology (CUST), Islamabad, Pakistan, in 2020. Previously, I worked as Lecturer at Preston University Peshawar Campus, Program Coordinator and Lecturer at Farabi College Peshawar, and Visiting Lecturer at Iqra National University Peshawar and Allama Iqbal Open University Peshawar.

As an educator with over 18 years of experience, I have taught Computer Science and Information Technology-related courses at various universities at undergraduate, graduate, and PhD levels. My teaching philosophy emphasizes fostering a dynamic and inclusive learning environment that encourages active student engagement and critical thinking. I am committed to inspiring students to become lifelong learners with the skills and knowledge required to excel academically and professionally.

As a researcher, I integrate cutting-edge research and emerging technologies into my teaching. My ability to connect theoretical concepts with real-world applications enhances the learning experience and instils a strong sense of relevance and motivation among students.

Beyond teaching, I actively contribute to the academic community through research collaboration, student mentoring, and departmental initiatives. I served as Exam Coordinator (5 years), a member of the Board of Studies (10 years), a founding member of the ZeroOne Research Group (10 years), and a member of the Institute’s Purchasing Committee (3 years) at ICS/IT, The University of Agriculture Peshawar. Currently, I am serving as Coordinator of BS Cyber Security and BS Software Engineering programs.

I can speak five languages: English, Urdu/Hindi, Pashto, Hindko, and Panjabi. My hobbies include reading books, PC games and documentaries, tourism, visiting historical sites, history, swimming, and other activities that inspire creativity and intellectual growth.
